Entry is restricted to financial members.
Competitions can be conducted in four sections
a. Section 1 = Set Subject
b. Section 2 = Open Subject
c. Section 3 = Creative Subject
d. Section 4 = Novice
The maximum number of entries per member per section NEW is two (2) in the set subject and three (3) in the others.
Once an entry has gained a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in a club competition, it cannot be re-entered in future club competitions, except the 1st place is allowed for the current photograph of the year competition.
Entries in set subject competitions must comply with the definition and that subject must be dominant in the photograph.
Points awarded to winning entries to be: OPEN
Gold = 6 points
Silver = 4 points
Bronze = 2 point
Entering gets 1 point NOVICE
Gold 4 points
Silver 3 points
Bronze 2 points
Entering 1 point
All photographs must be the work of the author, commercial processing of author's work is acceptable.
There must be two competitors to validate a competition in any section.
Photograph of the year to be selected from the gold winners in all club competitions.
Post processing of an image will be accepted in the set, open and Novice subject provided that Image elements may be removed through Digital Manipulation ,
Providing that no element is added that was not in the original photo.
ALL aspects of the image must have been produced by the entrant (including all post production work.)
Creative imaging will be accepted at any level of manipulation.
Entries in the creative section are to be based on a photograph taken by the entrant.
Any complaints or queries on definitions or entries to be referred to the Competition Director, who can make a decision or call a club committee meeting for a decision, prior to any judging taking place
No competition entries to be more than two years old on date of competition.
Novice A new members of the club automatically qualify as a Novice, once the member has received 2 two first places in novice competitions they are promoted from the Novice to the Open section . Novices may also enter any of the other 3 sections, Set, Open or Creative and once they have received a place in one of these competitions they are no longer illegible to enter the Novice competition

IMAGE FILES
must be digital in a JPEG file format.
The Pixel size of the image file should be 1920 pixels on the longest edge. for the best digital presentation, it can be less but the projection quality will suffer
Use an RGB Colour Space (adobeRGB or sRGB) not Greyscale.
Adjust the quality/compression to produce a final file size as close to 1000kb as possible again this can be less but the projection quality will suffer
DEADLINE......Images to be uploaded on the Gem website by Midnight the Sunday before the competition,
If you are technically unable to upload them they may be dropped off on a thumb drive during the Sunday by prior arrangement call 9291 0478 to arrange
To upload your image log in as a member from the home page (your username is your email address) and then go to the second item on the list "Go to Image Upload Section Selection Page" and follow the instructions to upload
